Vattenfall contracted JD Wind to undertake a 2 x gearbox and bearing exchange at Parc Cynog Wind Farm during October 2017. JD Wind were very professional whilst conducting the work which was delivered both safely and ahead of schedule. Vattenfall would be happy to work with JD Wind again in the future.

I can confirm that JD Wind have performed multiple projects at Alltwalis wind farm starting with such things as annual services to, gearbox replacements and pitch ram bearing replacements. Due to the continuing quality of work and positive attitudes we will be using the services of JD Wind for the up and coming main bearing replacement.

Reference regarding JD Wind – Ben Draper and Ed Jones
I first met them both when I worked for Bonus Wind Turbines and then Siemens, working at the Newtown Service Centre.
They are both experienced wind turbine technicians; competent working on the smaller version WTGs including 300, 450 and 650 Bonus wind turbines but also the larger Siemens platforms.
The exposure to the early WTGs developed their problem solving capabilities along with the ability to work safely and with the highest quality. They also understand the importance of a clean and tidy WTG and the benefits of top quality service and maintenance.
They have also shown their experience leading many major component changes in various makes of WTG, often carry out major tasks on new WTG types for the first time. They work well together, with fellow technicians and appreciate strong and reliable working teams.
They have developed their management skills since setting up JD Wind and have a good support structure of ex-colleagues.
I have recently assisted JD Wind with the implementation of the WTSR and I feel they have always accepted and supported my high expectation for health and safety. They understand the importance of the development of the compliant safe system of work and environmental management and will develop the necessary SMS and EMS and I will advice and support the development of those systems to ISO 45001 and the Welsh Green Dragon environmental standard.

I am the asset manager for an eleven-turbine wind farm in North Wales on behalf of John Laing Environmental Assets Plc and have managed the wind farm since 2003.
During this time, I have worked extensively with Siemens and previously Bonus. I am also familiar with the work of other turbine maintenance companies such as B9, Windteck, Npower Renewables to name a few.
The stand out feature of Siemens’ Welsh capabilities was based around a core group of dedicated and experienced technicians, of which Ben Draper and Ed Jones were at the forefront. When they decided to start up their own company, I had no hesitation in offering them work.
The decision has since proved to be totally the correct one to take — the two (16 year old) turbines under their care substantially out-perform the remaining nine (10 year old) turbines maintained by Siemens, and are running at near perfect availability.
Ben and Ed work in a transparent, dedicated manner. They are always available at the end of a phone. Their attention to detail is meticulous which manifests itself in the ultra high availability figures achieved.
